Federal Work Study Program

The Federal Work Study Program helps students earn financial funding through a part-time work program. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient’s course of study.

Eligibility

  • Eligibility is based on financial need and job availability on a first-come, first-serve basis. Awards are made in the order of completed financial aid files. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the application needed to determine eligibility.

About Federal Work Study Jobs

  • Seven percent of Federal Work Study funds are allocated to community service. One or more Federal Work Study students must be employed as a reading tutor for children in a reading tutoring project or performing family literacy activities in a family literacy project.
  • Faculty and staff may hire approved Federal Work Study students to work within their department.

How to Receive Earnings

  • Federal Work Study students can work to a maximum of 20 hours per calendar week during regular enrollment periods.
  • The amount earned depends on the student’s hourly rate and number of hours worked.
  • Federal Work Study students receive a check once a month from the college.
