Dyersburg State Community College is excited to announce the addition of three new athletic programs to its roster on the Dyersburg campus – Women’s Volleyball and both Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Half Marathon. Recruitment for these teams will begin in September 2024, with games set to launch in the fall of 2025.

The addition of these new programs reflects Dyersburg State’s commitment to providing a well-rounded collegiate experience for its students. The college believes that athletics plays a vital role in developing leadership skills, teamwork, and a strong sense of community among student-athletes.

“We are excited to introduce these new athletic programs at Dyersburg State Community College for our community and our students,” said Dr. Scott Cook, President of Dyersburg State. “These sports will not only offer our students the opportunity to compete at a high level but also to build lasting relationships, create unforgettable memories, and enrich their college experiences.”

The addition of the new sports programs will allow DSCC to offer both Division I and Division II sports within the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). DSCC is also a member of the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA). The new programs will compete with our programs on regional and national levels.

“As the athletic director at Dyersburg State, I constantly seek new opportunities to expand our sports programs and give our students more opportunities to compete and excel. Adding new sports programs not only enhances our athletic department but also adds to the overall student experience at our college. I am excited about the potential for growth and success of adding new sports programs. I am committed to ensuring our athletes have the resources and support they need to thrive,” said Steve Cornelison, Athletic Director.
