Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is excited to announce the addition of Emily Gilstrap to its softball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach beginning with the 2024-2025 season. With her extensive background in softball and impressive academic credentials, Coach Gilstrap is poised to bring a fresh perspective and energy to Lady Eagles’ softball.

A native of Paris, Tennessee, Gilstrap’s career in softball began at Henry County High School, where she excelled on the field and demonstrated leadership and a deep understanding of the game. Her passion for softball led her to Dyersburg State, where she played from 2018 to 2020, contributing to the team’s success during her tenure.

Following her years at DSCC, Gilstrap transferred to the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she played for another two years. Her collegiate softball career demonstrated dedication, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

In addition to her athletic prowess, Coach Gilstrap also excelled academically. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance in 2022 and achieved a Master’s degree in Education by 2024.

Gilstrap’s involvement with softball extends beyond her playing days. She has contributed significantly to the Henry County High School softball program, where she has been helping shape young athletes for the last six years. Her experience in mentoring and coaching at the high school level has equipped her with the skills and knowledge to inspire and develop the next generation of softball talent at Dyersburg State Community College. When asked what this opportunity meant to her, coach Gilstrap stated, “I am very blessed for the opportunity that has been given to me to coach at the college level by Coach Follis and the DSCC staff. I am so excited to be a part of the program and for our upcoming season. I am extremely thankful to return to DSCC to continue my softball career on the other side of the lines! Go Eagles!”

Dyersburg State Community College is thrilled to welcome Coach Gilstrap back to Dyersburg State as a Lady Eagles coaching staff member. Her familiarity with our program and her experience and educational background make her an invaluable asset to our team. We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our athletes.
