Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) has made the difficult decision to pause the Men’s Basketball season for all December games following the recent loss within our community. In light of this tragedy, we believe it is essential for our student-athletes to take the necessary time to grieve, be with family, and prepare for the upcoming spring semester.

“We understand how important athletics are to our students and the community,” said Dr. Amanda Walker, Vice President of External Affairs. “However, the health and well-being of our student-athletes must come first. This pause will allow them the time to process their emotions and support one another during this challenging time.”

Athletic Director Steve Cornelison stated, “The Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) conference games scheduled for December will be rescheduled for the spring of 2025, and we have the full support of the TCCAA in this decision. The college is committed to ensuring that our student-athletes have the opportunity to compete at a high level once they are ready to return to the court.”

The Women’s Basketball team will continue its season and will be back in action on December 4th, hosting Columbia State at 5:30 p.m. on the Dyersburg campus. We encourage our supporters and the community to come out and cheer on our women’s team as they represent DSCC.

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the recent loss.
