Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is committed to the well-being and success of our student-athletes. After extensive discussions with our student-athletes and careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding our Men’s Basketball program’s loss of two student-athletes in the fall, we have decided to extend the pause for the remainder of the basketball season.

This decision is not taken lightly and reflects our ongoing commitment to prioritize our student-athletes’ health, safety, and academic success. We recognize our players’ dedication and passion for the sport and appreciate their understanding and cooperation during this challenging time. Student-athletes will have access to continue their training to prepare for next season and any other future opportunities at four-year colleges and universities.

“We understand how important athletics are to our students and the community,” said Dr. Amanda Walker, Vice President of External Affairs. “However, the health and well-being of our student-athletes must come first. This pause will allow them to continue focusing on their emotional health and ensuring their success in the classroom.”

We want to assure our student-athletes, particularly those on scholarship, that they will continue to receive financial aid throughout this period. Additionally, we will maintain access to vital support services during the spring semester for our student-athletes, including academic resources, mental health counseling, and career development programs. The Men’s Basketball program will resume play in the Fall of 2025.
