Dyersburg State Community College proudly announces the exhibit featuring the captivating artwork of the father-daughter duo Buck and Madds Brotherton. The exhibit will be open to the public through April 3, 2025, at the Jimmy Naifeh Center in Covington. An artists’ reception will be held on March 7 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ripley Power and Light Lobby of the Learning Resource Center, allowing attendees to meet the artists and discuss their creative processes.

The DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center and the Tipton Art League sponsor this vibrant exhibit. Visitors can admire twenty paintings, including eleven works by Buck and nine pieces by Madds.

Buck Brotherton’s paintings reflect a deep appreciation for color, light, and texture. He often depicts serene local scenes. Works such as “Winter Walk” and “Breaking Wave” exhibit his exceptional ability to master light, seamlessly bringing each piece to life.

In contrast, Madds Brotherton draws inspiration from surrealism, channeling her expressiveness into her art. Her pieces transport viewers to a whimsical realm called ‘Madds World.’ Notably, her painting ‘Memento Vivere’ is a compelling reminder to cherish life, weaving together powerful symbols that encourage reflection and mindfulness.

Buck’s journey in art began at Millington Central High, where he garnered several accolades. He later channeled his artistic talents into a successful career, spending over two decades as a production artist at World Wide Art Studios. Madds, a self-taught artist, skillfully navigates traditional and digital mediums, continuously exploring new avenues for her creativity.
