Dr. Scott Cook was appointed the 4th president of Dyersburg State Community College on November 16, 2021, following a national search and assumed the role on January 4, 2022. Beginning as a dual enrollment student, Dr. Cook earned the Associate of Science from Motlow State Community College in Lynchburg, TN (2000); the Bachelor of Science from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN (2001); the Master of Liberal Studies from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS (2004); and the Doctor of Education from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN (2011). Dr. Cook began teaching part-time at Motlow State Community College in January 2002, and his first full-time appointment was Assistant Professor at Georgia Military College in Columbus, GA (2004-2006). In 2006, he returned to Motlow State on a full-time faculty appointment and earned full professor with tenure (history) at Motlow State Community College (2006-2018). In addition to faculty, Dr. Cook served there as Honors Program Director (2010-2018), Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (2011-2012, 2014-2016), and Vice President for Quality Assurance and Performance Funding (2016-2018), before serving as the inaugural Provost at Madisonville Community College in Madisonville, KY (2018-2021).

Dr. Amy Johnson was appointed Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success in July 2023. Dr. Johnson earned the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Dyersburg State Community College (2002), a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University (2007), a Master of Science in Nursing Education from South University (2009), and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from University of Tennessee at Knoxville (2023). Dr. Johnson began her nursing career as an Emergency Room Nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City. While working full-time as an Emergency Room Nurse, she began to teach part-time at Dyersburg State Community College as a clinical instructor in 2007. In 2009, Dr. Johnson began working as a full-time Nursing Instructor and earned Assistant and Associate Professor rank at Dyersburg State Community College. In 2013, she became the Dean of Nursing at Dyersburg State Community College, where she led the nursing division for almost ten years. In 2022, she accepted the Interim position of Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success. Dr. Johnson states, “My experience as a student, instructor, and administrator at Dyersburg State Community College will be instrumental in making DSCC the college of choice.”

As the Vice President for Information Technology and Facilities Management, Josh Duggin leads a team of professionals in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of DSCC’s technology and physical plant infrastructure. According to Mr. Duggin, “Here at DSCC, IT and Physical Plant function as the true nervous system and muscles of the college, as we touch all areas and help with systems, facilities and resources that all departments and divisions use in their daily work. We believe that IT and Physical Plant can and should be strong partners and assets to the college – and not just cost centers – as our facilities and technology evolve and change the way we work over time.”

Mr. Duggin has an MBA from Union University and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and Computer Science (also from Union University). He currently has over 25 years of experience in IT, both in the private sector and higher education. Mr. Duggin assumed the additional responsibility of Facilities Management in January 2024.

As the Vice President of External Affairs, Dr. Walker leads the areas of Advancement (Annual Fund and Foundation activities), Athletics, Marketing & Public Relations, Alumni Affairs, Workforce Development, and the Tennessee Small Business Development Center. Dr. Walker has 18+ years of higher education experience, which helps her lead and mentor her teams. In addition, as Vice President of External Affairs, Dr. Walker works to advance the College’s mission by increasing the reach and impact of the institutional work by enhancing its overall reputation for excellence, building and fostering relationships with key audiences and partners, strengthening communications, promoting strategic partnerships, and expanding relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, and other influencers. Dr. Walker stated, “My role is essential to the college; I focus on engaging individual and corporate support through fundraising, friend-raising, and creating opportunities for our students through community partnerships.”

Dr. Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration/Student Personnel from The University of Mississippi and a Doctor of Education from Delta State University in Professional Studies in Higher Education Administration.

Mrs. Melissa Koffman, Interim Vice President of Finance and Administrative Services has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over twenty (20) years and has experience in both public accounting as well as private sector and nonprofit accounting. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting (BSBA) from Union University and is currently working on a Master of Business Administration (MBA). She started her career in public accounting with PwC Management Consulting Company before moving on to various roles with both private companies and nonprofits. Mrs. Koffman joined DSCC as Comptroller in March 2023 and was promoted to her current role in June 2024.
