Welcome to Dyersburg State Community College!

Accuplacer

The ACCUPLACER® exam is designed to assess the academic skills needed for student success in college. Degree-seeking First-time Freshman or Transfer students may take the ACCUPLACER Exam once for free and a second time for a fee of $10.00 to challenge the learning support requirement in reading, writing, and mathematics.

  • Students are required to complete the free ACCUPLACER Brush-Up practice test prior to taking the test. Students will not be eligible to sit for the ACCUPLACER test until this requirement is completed. The Academic Success Center offers this free service to prepare students to take the ACCUPLACER test.
  • To schedule the ACCUPLACER Brush-Up, please contact Ms. Dina Ross, Academic Success Center Coordinator, at 731-286-3219 or dkross@dscc.edu for the Dyersburg location or Brooklyn Nanney, Assistant Coordinator of the ASC, at 901-475-3155 or bnanney4@dscc.edu for the Covington location.
  • The ACCUPLACER exam is NOT timed.
  • There is no fee for taking the exam for eligible DSCC applicants.
  • ACCUPLACER tests your academic preparation in three areas: Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. Scores and placement results will be discussed immediately at the conclusion of the ACCUPLACER exam with each individual test taker.
  • For additional ACCUPLACER information, tutorial resources, and sample tests, go to https://accuplacer.collegeboard.org/student/practice. This will provide free practice materials such as an ACCUPLACER Study Application, and a “Look Inside the Test.” Be sure to use the “Next-Generation” Reading, Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) Mathematics tests.
  • ACCUPLACER testing dates and times for all three DSCC locations are posted in AppointmentPlus on DSCC’s website.  If you have questions or need assistance making a testing appointment, call the DSCC Testing Center.
