Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Taylor Follis as the interim head softball coach for the upcoming season. Follis brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the game to the role, making him an excellent fit for the team.

Follis served as an assistant coach for the Dyersburg State Lady Eagles for the past year and has worked with players at various levels, from high school to college. Follis was an assistant baseball and football coach at Ripley High School from 2015-2016 and an assistant baseball and football coach at Covington High School from 2016-2018. From 2019-2021, Taylor served as an assistant coach for baseball and football at McCracken County High School in Paducah. KY before taking over the head baseball position at Trigg County High School in Cadiz, KY, in the Fall of 2021. In his 10-year coaching span, Coach Follis has appeared in 4 state championships, 2017 & 2018, for football at Covington High School, and 2019 & 2021 for baseball at McCracken County. In 2024, Follis helped coach the Lady Eagles to a 37-17 record and the NJCAA Region VII Appalachian District-Runner-Up title.

The Dyersburg State Lady Eagles made history in its 2023-24 season, as it was the first time in school history for the DSCC Softball team to earn the TCCAA Region VII Runner-Up title. This season has undoubtedly set a new benchmark for the Lady Eagles, paving the way for future success. The Dyersburg State community is immensely proud of their team’s accomplishments and looks forward to their continued success in the coming seasons.

“We are confident Coach Follis can lead the team and continue the momentum set by the Lady Eagles Softball program in the 2023-24 season. Coach Follis has shown great leadership this past season, and we are excited to have him take this new opportunity,” stated Steve Cornelison, DSCC Athletic Director.

Coach Follis added, “I’m very blessed to have this opportunity. Coaching at the college level has always been my dream job, and I’m very excited to see what this season holds for us. Coach George White has done a phenomenal job recruiting and building this program to be one of the top in the Conference and the country.”

Follis earned an Associate of Arts degree from Motlow State Community College in 2012.
