Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will close all locations on Monday, August 19, 2024, to host its annual Fall Update and Professional Development session for faculty and staff. In addition, DSCC will hold an Active Shooter Training and Drill for all employees. There will be limited access to campus and center locations on Monday, August 19, 2024. The college and center locations will reopen on Tuesday, August 20.
“Fall Update is a time when all employees come together to celebrate our success, collaborate, and learn. In addition, this year, we are including intruder training and a drill to increase our knowledge, promote awareness, and share information to help employees protect themselves and others in an emergency. The safety and security of our students, employees, and visitors is our top priority,” said President Scott Cook.
DSCC Chief of Police and Security Mike Peeler said, “The active shooter training and drill will allow our employees to test our emergency response procedures and ensure the safety of all employees, students, and visitors. The training and drill will also allow employees to prepare and understand the best practices for active shooter situations and respond using those best practices if those situations should occur.”
Again, we remind students and community members that this is only a drill.
