Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a federal grant of $396,000 as part of the Perkins READI (Reimagine, Engage and Develop for Innovation) Grants program. This funding is part of $4,777,312 allocated to eleven Tennessee community and technical colleges to strengthen career and technical education (CTE) programs.

The grant was awarded following a competitive application process administered by the Tennessee Board of Regents and aims to enhance DSCC’s capacity to provide high-quality educational opportunities. The funds will support and expand CTE programs that prepare students for in-demand careers, benefiting Tennessee’s workforce.

DSCC plans to utilize the Perkins grant to enhance our EMS program at the Jimmy Naifeh Center due to increased enrollment and expand the EMS program to Henry County starting in Spring 2025. These programs provide students with valuable skills and training to thrive in today’s job market.

Dr. Amy Johnson, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, stated, “We are so excited that DSCC was awarded the Perkins READI grant. The grant will allow DSCC to purchase equipment for our growing EMS program.”

The Perkins funds are allocated under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as amended by the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act of 2018. These grants foster innovative approaches to training, engaging students in CTE programs, and enhancing collaboration among educational institutions.
