Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is proud to announce that June 11, 2024, has been officially designated Judy Long Day in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the college and the community. Judy will be recognized at the Smart Women event on June 11th at 11:30 am in the Dyersburg State Community College Student Center.

Judy Long has been a beacon of leadership and service throughout her illustrious career. After graduating from Dyersburg State Community College with an Associate of Science in Business Administration, Long furthered her education at Union University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Finance. Her academic achievements also include various certifications in banking and leadership, underscoring her dedication to professional growth and excellence.

Since 1974, Long has been a vital part of First Citizens National Bank, where she has risen to her current position as President and Chief Operating Officer. Her tenure at the bank is noted for visionary leadership and a steadfast commitment to community development and financial education.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Judy Long has been an integral member of the Dyersburg State Community College family. Her roles have spanned from serving on the Foundation Board to chairing the “Leaving a Legacy for Learning” Campaign and participating in the DSCC Annual Fund Campaign Fundraising Committee. Judy is a DSCC alumnus of the class of 1976 and a financial supporter of the college since 2002. Over the years, she has generously contributed to Area of Greatest Need, Leaving a Legacy for Learning, and the Alumni Association. Judy served on the Alumni Association board from 2008 – 2011.

In 2013-14, she was chairperson of the Annual Fund Campaign, raising $1,506,236.48 for the college. Since 2019, she has served on the DSCC Foundation Board of Directors, where she still serves today, and is the chairperson of the Fundraising Committee for the Foundation. Given Judy Long’s years of involvement and significant impact at Dyersburg State, she was awarded the Outstanding Alumni award. Judy’s dedication to Dyersburg State and its growth leaves a lasting legacy.

Long’s dedication to prosperity extends beyond the campus of DSCC. She is an active member of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, the Dyersburg Rotary Club, the Dyer County Extension Agriculture Board of Directors, and numerous other organizations that benefit the wider community. When asked about Judy Long and her impact on DSCC and beyond, Dr. Scott Cook stated, “Judy Long has served on various committees for Dyersburg State Community College for over 20 years, including the DSCC Annual Fund Campaign Fundraising Committee, the DSCC Foundation Board of Directors, the Chair of the Leaving a Legacy for Learning Campaign, and the DSCC Alumni Board. Ms. Long continues to serve DSCC and surrounding counties by serving on numerous community organizations, promoting economic growth in our area, and supporting our efforts to increase educational attainment in our region and improve the quality of life for citizens of West Tennessee.”
