Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) is thrilled to announce the addition of an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program at the Henry County Center, set to launch in Spring 2025. This new program and courses will provide aspiring healthcare professionals with vital training to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), a critical role in the healthcare system.
Alongside the EMS program, the DSCC Henry County Center offers a range of healthcare training options, including programs for Certified Clinical Medical Assistants (CCMA), Phlebotomy, and Electrocardiogram (EKG) specialists. Including the EMS course is significant as it prepares students to deliver life-saving care at the scene of emergencies and during transport to medical facilities.
Students enrolled in the EMT program will engage in comprehensive coursework that equips them with essential skills. After completing the training, graduates will be eligible to take the National Registry exams, demonstrating their competency and preparedness for state licensure.
To qualify for the EMT program, applicants must be at least 18 and possess a high school diploma or GED. Additional requirements include a criminal background check and a drug screening before admission.
Shannon Mayo, Director of the Henry County Center, expressed enthusiasm about the new offering, stating, “We are excited that the EMS program is being introduced at the Henry County Center. This addition complements our current healthcare programs and will play a vital role in supporting our students’ career ambitions in the medical field.”
