Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will host its annual Constitution Day celebration on September 17th, 2024, at 5 p.m. at the Jimmy Naifeh Center in the Learning Resource Center, room C104. Set against the historic Constitution Day backdrop, the event promises to be a thoughtful reflection on democracy and leadership. In addition to celebrating Constitution Day, DSCC is inducting its newly elected Student Government Association (SGA) officers during the event.
Jan Hensley, Mayor of the City of Covington, will serve as the event’s guest speaker. Mayor Hensley is a proud 1993 alumnus of the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mayor Hensley’s return to Covington and his journey to office embodies the civic engagement and leadership spirit that Constitution Day celebrates.
Larenda Fultz, Dean of Student Services, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event. “Constitution Day is not just an observance of our nation’s founding document; it’s a celebration of the principles of democracy and our student leaders’ role in it. We’re thrilled to induct our new SGA officers on such a significant day, highlighting the importance of civic participation and governance.”
The event is open to students, faculty, staff, and the community. Join us in recognizing our student leaders’ achievements and glean insights from Mayor Hensley’s reflections on public service and governance.
