The EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION concentration provides the educational needs of the childcare industry as well as the Head Start teachers and teacher assistants in public Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education classrooms. It is specifically designed for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation.

The BASIC EARLY CHILDHOOD CERTIFICATE program can be completed in one semester and includes four courses required to receive the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Typical jobs: Childcare provider
The EARLY CHILDHOOD CERTIFICATE program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to successfully work with children ages birth through 8 years in a childcare setting. Each course in this certificate may be applied to the Early Childhood Education major and concentration.
Typical jobs: Child Care Provider, Child Care Owner/Operator, Department of Education Pre-K Assistant.
Accreditation
The Early Childhood Education (A.A.S.) degree at Dyersburg State Community College is accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Programs of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The current accreditation term runs from 2020-2027.
