Dyersburg State Community College’s (DSCC) Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) in Covington will showcase the artwork of Dare Harcourt from July 1 to September 30, 2024. An artists’ reception will be held on September 26 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. inside the Learning Resource Center’s Ripley Power and Light lobby. The reception will offer refreshments and the opportunity to meet Ms. Harcourt and members of the Tipton Art League. Dyersburg State Community College, Jimmy Naifeh Center in Covington, and the Tipton Art League will sponsor the exhibit.
Harcourt was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. During a difficult period, she turned to painting as a form of coping and healing and fell in love with it. Subsequently, she pursued a Master of Arts in Art Education from the Memphis College of Art.
Muted colors and ethereal abstracts characterize Harcourt’s artwork. She particularly enjoys painting animals, including her black lab, Finn, textures, and snow-capped mountains. Dare encourages living a vibrant and colorful life regardless of circumstances, a philosophy she embodies daily.
