Prior Learning Assessment

Prior Learning Assessment is a way for you to earn college credit for things you already know or classes you have already completed. Knowledge and skills acquired from military services may be converted into college credit.

Credit may be granted as general elective credit or specific course credit as determined during the evaluation of training. The portion of a student’s transfer credit, when applied to the student’s specific degree program, then shortens the time to complete said program.

DSCC will grant credit for retired or active service members based on the recommendations of the American Council on Education and the Community College of the Air Force.

To receive credit for these courses, the students must present a copy of their DD 214-Member4 (Separation from Military Service) and Joint Service Transcript.
