Have Your Financial Circumstances Changed? You Could be Eligible for Additional Aid for College!

At DSCC, we know that there are circumstances that can impact a family’s ability to pay for college – especially during these unprecedented times. If your household or income has changed recently, complete the Special Circumstances Form below and we will review your eligibility for additional aid opportunities.

2024-2025 Special Circumstances Form – Fill out this form if you plan to attend fall 2024, spring 2025, or summer 2025 semesters. You will also need to fill out the 2024-2025 FAFSA. Use DSCC’s School Code 006835.

On an individual basis, the financial aid administrator may consider special circumstances of a student which has significantly impacted the family income reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Professional judgment cannot be used to waive general student eligibility requirements or to circumvent the intent of the law or regulations. The decision of the aid administrator is final and may not be appealed to the U.S. Department of Education.

Since an adjustment is being made to data elements that are included in the law, complete and accurate documentation will be required prior to a special consideration. A special form is required, as well as all of the documentation requested to properly evaluate the income of the individual for the calendar year following the income reported on the FAFSA. Failure to complete the form in its entirety, provide the income and other information requested, or submission of conflicting data will result in denial of the request. Students should carefully review and compare total family income to ensure that the total expected income does not exceed the prior year income.

If you are attending Fall only, the deadline to submit your request is November 1, 2024. If you are attending the academic year (Fall and Spring), the deadline is April 1, 2025. Your Professional Judgement request and all documents must be submitted prior to your ceasing enrollment.
