Dyersburg State Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of George White as the new head baseball coach. White brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the game to the role, making him an excellent fit for the program.

With a strong background in coaching, White has proven himself as a dedicated coach and mentor. He previously served thirteen years as the head softball coach for the Dyersburg State Lady Eagles and nine years of experience as the assistant baseball coach for the DSCC Eagles. White’s commitment to player development and his ability to foster a positive team culture make him an ideal choice for the head coach position.

Coach George White believes in focusing on graduating student-athletes and moving them on to four-year colleges and universities while teaching them team-building skills that will hopefully provide great memories they can look back on after DSCC. Coach White has served as a master advisor at DSCC since 2012 to help athletes with course selection and enrollment. Before advising and coaching, White was the assistant coordinator of student activities for six years and assisted with recruitment, campus activities, and retention strategies at DSCC.

Coach White knows success, having been selected twice for the First Team All-State in class 4A Missouri baseball in high school. After high school, he attended Mineral Area College, where he was a First Team All-Conference and All-Region selection. After MAC, he signed with the University of Missouri, St. Louis, where he also earned All-Conference First Team awards as a catcher. After college, he played for four years with the Cape Girardeau Capahas.

For the past ten years, the softball team has been selected as one of the Academic Teams of the Year by NJCAA for its GPA. White was recognized as the TCCAA Softball Coach of the Year in 2013. In 2022, the Lady Eagles broke a school record with 39 wins and received their first-ever JUCO national ranking in the softball program’s history. Coach White led the Lady Eagles to finish runner-up in Region VII in 2024. White has an overall 272-196 record as a head softball coach.

Coach White has a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy and a Master of Education from William Woods University.

As the head baseball coach, Coach White will lead the team, develop game strategies, and mentor the players on and off the field. He will work closely with the athletic department to ensure the program’s success and uphold the college’s commitment to excellence.

Steve Cornelison, Athletic Director, stated, “I am confident that White’s leadership and expertise will contribute to the continued growth and success of the baseball program. The college is excited to have him on board and looks forward to a successful season under his guidance.”
